S1b: Case- and Problem-based Learning in Undergraduate Chemistry and Biochemistry

Organizer: Bryan Spiegelberg (Rider University, USA)

Presider: Bryan Spiegelberg (Rider University, USA)

Student-centered learning techniques that emphasize real world applications can drastically increase engagement. Students involved in analyzing well-constructed cases and solving appropriate problems learn content and the critical-thinking and teamwork skills necessary to apply their knowledge effectively. This symposium will allow educators to share their experiences with case- and problem-based learning throughout the undergraduate chemistry curriculum. What works? What evidence has been found to support the effectiveness of these pedagogical techniques?

     Introduction 9:30am-9:35am
